Located near Beijing's Shougang Park, an important representative of China's industrial history, the Boundary office design project is a striking blend of modern design and industrial charm. The design draws inspiration from reflections produced by mirrors or pools, creating an illusion of infinite space. The open functional spaces enhance interaction and communication, offering a dynamic office space experience.
The unique properties of Boundary set it apart from conventional office designs. The use of glass and stainless steel magnifies the space, creating a sense of freedom and boundlessness. The glass partitions present a dynamic silhouette, creating a visual performance of separation and non-separation. The mirror waterscape and stainless steel mirror reflect the space, creating a sense of vertical extension.
The Boundary office spans a generous 1800 square meters. It features a large reception room for guests and business negotiations, a custom coffee table in the café that uses miniature figures to create a Winter Olympics scene, and conference rooms of different specifications. The collaborative office area is equipped with open sitting or standing semi-private workstations to facilitate collaboration and interaction among employees.
The design project began in December 2020 in Beijing and was completed in August 2021. The design reflects the future of office spaces, creating a flexible, personalized experience that respects and enhances its surroundings. The large, open floor plates provide a more connected, collaborative environment that reinforces a common culture, fosters innovation, and attracts top talent.
The project faced several challenges, including the spacious internal area with a height of only 3 meters, resulting in a sense of pressure and poor spatial experience. However, the design team overcame these challenges by breaking away from the traditional closed office space and creating an open, functional place that enhances interaction and communication.
The Boundary design was awarded Silver in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2022. This prestigious award is a testament to the design's outstanding expertise, innovation, and remarkable level of excellence. The Boundary office design is a shining example of how innovative architecture and design can transform traditional office spaces into dynamic, interactive environments.
